Construction of the Girls Dormitory!

Hope SchoolHope SchoolHope School

Southern Africa's Children worked with Hope School to construct a dormitory for the girl orphans who are being cared for full time at the school. The dormitory is called 'The Robert Hutchins Dormitory' and is now home for thirty three girls. Each girl has her own bed, mattress, bedding, mosquito net and cupboard space. In addition the dormitory has a washroom, showers and toilets. The dormitory will provide a home for 48 orphans at full capacity.

Why did we need to build a dormitory? In 2005 all the girls were living in two small rooms sharing four beds and mattresses. They would take it in turns to sleep on the bed but most nights the majority of the girls shared bedding on the floor with no mosquito nets.

Today The Robert Hutchins Dormitory is a safe, stable and happy home for these girls.
